Amber Treaty by GIA. Amber is an organic jewel derived from the living sap of old trees. Although it is available in the natural state, the amber gemstone can be heat treated to clarify cloudy materials from the air trapped inside. The heat treated amber, also called amber treatment, is led to hot oil and can also darken the color. Although some red and green amber gems are natural, some can be produced by treatment. The appearance of heat treated amber can change and it is more likely that it will fade if exposed to intense light. In this video, discover the effects of heat treated amber and how a treatment will alter the appearance of the gem.
